Urgent Year End Student Scholarship Need

Dear Friend:

Our teenagers in San Antonio de Cortez are facing an enormous crisis that could literally alter the rest of their lives.

There are 100 students who have completed elementary school.  But without our help, they will not be accepted into Middle school and High School.  In Honduras if these young people cannot get a High School education, it will leave them to a sordid life of drugs, sex trafficking and a life of crime that can only lead to incarceration.   In reality, we are talking about this being a life or death crisis.

The bottom line is that each of these 100 teenagers will need a scholarship of $175 in order to enter school.  This becomes an impossible amount when you consider their family annual income is only $480.

For lack of $175, 80% of girls and 70% of boys at this crucial life intersection of Jr. and Sr. High years cannot attend past 6th grade. Consequences are many and tragic, far beyond surface issues.  Consider this. For those young people who cannot complete High School, the doors to University, Technical School and Careers are closed… Leading to:

--Relegation to menial jobs (when they may be found) with poor pay

--Feeling like an unwelcome drain on those with whom they live and later, a lonely life in a dilapidated, unsanitary shack

--Poor health and poorer nutrition (causing the demise of some younger children), feeling stuck in cycles of "generational poverty" and hopelessness, without value

And in the worst cases:

--Young girls believing that all they have of value is their body

-Very early pregnancies, many at 14 years, some at 11 or 12, neither consenting nor adults

--Susceptibility to drugs, gangs, cartels and, worst of all, human trafficking of themselves and their children. All these tragedies we have witnessed or have been informed of.

For those young people who complete High School, their chances of attaining success are multiplied exponentially! (By the way, students receive a new Bible and continued local Pastor’s follow up!)

Their chances at a new fulfilling life where they can literally be all that God designed them to be, only costs $175.

Bottom line, YOU CAN MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE in the life of a teenager! We humbly ask for your help. If you have not contributed, we ask that you do so. If you have contributed, would you consider supporting another student or more? Would you consider making others aware of this opportunity? We, not to mention the students, will be so grateful!

If you are not able to give $175, please pray about a scholarship for ½ year or $87.50.  By uniting together and believing God for his provision, I believe with all my heart we can together provide life saving scholarships for all 100 students.

Thank you for your faithfulness to From Hand To Heart!
YOURS for the least of these,

KidsStory Trip May 2-8, 2018

DSC_2467.jpg

Dear friends of From Hand to Heart,

I hope you and your loved ones are well and blessed with the richness of the very Presence of God!  We had a great KIDStory* childrens’ worker training in San Antonio de Cortes, Honduras May 2 - 8! It was much better attended than we ever hoped or imagined. We had 32 trainees from 9 different churches! Steve Nine, our trainer is an excellent communicator and the KIDStory materials are unique, powerful and, we believe, will prove very effective in producing eternal results! It was so well received, we are looking at dates in the near future for another session in San Antonio de Cortes and several other Honduran towns for new trainees and for an advanced class for those who attended this session to dig deeper into ministering God’s Word in childrens’ ministry. At the close, we had tearful testimonies (not the norm in this stoic culture) of gratitude for new ways to help children who live in generational poverty to know Jesus through knowing His Word. Another real success is that about 40% of the trainees were guys, some in their late teens, one guy in his 50’s and all ages between, including several of the Pastors (we had three Lady Pastoras)! In a culture that is increasingly fatherless, this is a HUGE praise (when groups of boys were asked who they would most like to personally meet, it was not sports heroes or musicians as would be expected. Overwhelmingly their response was their desire to meet their own fathers; most had never had contact with their biological fathers – tragic!). KIDStory could provide ways that men of differing ages could be “Adoptive Dads” to kids, providing teaching tools to help introduce them to their Father God in Christ Jesus using His precious Word! Please pray and believe it will be so, Amen.

Plans are coming together for Lanny’s Project: Logistics discovery visit to Belize, Central America, June 30 – July 5 for an October 2018 CHIA Medical, Dental & Optometry Mission, the Project: Evangelize Revival Team outreach in partnership with Pastor Jacob Lujan, Son of God Ministries, San Jon, New Mexico, January 23 – 28 in San Antonio de Cortes, January 29 – February 2, on Roatan Island, and the Project: Logistics prep for the CHIA Medical, Dental & Optometry Mission, February 3 – 10 (excursion R&R on Roatan February 10 – 13). I will update you as these opportunities develop.

Please remember our new Project: Nourish childrens’ feeding program in your earnest prayers. We have an opportunity that is SO beyond what I could have imagined. It will be a GOD-SIZED blessing if He deems us worthy, WAY bigger than my “Pay Grade”, to repeat a famous comment, that will bless thousands of desperately poor children! Please, please pray.

As you can well imagine, these awesome, growing opportunities have commensurate costs that will and are quickly outdistancing our Operation: Hand Up finances. I would simply ask for your help. God already knows the plan and how it will be supported (Where God guides, God provides!) and He has ALWAYS provided by touching the hearts of people who hear and respond. I simply ask for your help and I humbly thank you for your faithfulness in providing the means to offer a hand up to those living in generational poverty! Great things are ahead!

I pray and trust our Lord will bless and keep you in His care.

In Kingdom service,       Lanny
