What We Want To Do:

from hand to Heart exists to offer a hand up to those living in generational poverty

Project: Educate

Provides an otherwise unattainable education by investing $175 USD of the total $197 USD for a full school year, inexpensive by our standards, impossible with average annual income at $450 USD. We supply Jr. & Sr. High students, Nursing School and Technical School students all supplies needed, including two uniforms, shoes, socks, backpack, text books, a Bible, writing utensils, a gym uniform and school fees. Families are asked to make a $22 USD investment in their own students education. Students must exhibit excellence in effort, achievement and behavior.

Project: Poultry

Facilitates opportunities for recipient families to start and grow a sustainable flock to nourish themselves and produce income by constructing a sturdy hen house, supplying 10 hens, a rooster, 10 baby chicks, 6 months grain feed (500 lbs) and hands-on training. The eggs produced satisfy the need for immediate, high quality nutrition. Each family invests wood posts and beams, labor to clear and level property and to help build their henhouses and diligent care of their flock. They return 5 non-fertilized eggs per week to the Project for future recipients and 5 adult hens at the end of 6 months to be used for Project brood stock. They sign an agreement for their own benefit that they will not eat or sell any poultry or fertilized eggs for 6 months, which will build their flocks exponentially.

PROJECT: NOURISH

Partnering with local Honduran churches, we provide matching funds to serve healthy, hearty meals for 250 children per week who are at-risk of malnutrition. Although the need is much greater, with many more children at nutrition deficits, the Pastors themselves and their congregations struggle with living in poverty, so the funds they provide in faith come at a tremendous sacrifice. We are seeking your assistance in helping these good people to care for the children of their own community. May we count on your help?

PROJECT: PLANT

Promotes nutritional help for poor families by providing hundreds of packets of vegetable seeds of every variety, organic fertilizer, experienced gardeners to work with families to plant gardens, and hands-on training to produce the greatest possible harvest yields. "Seed Banking" is also taught to ensure production into the future. Your generous contributions will help us purchase tools, local labor, fencing materials and other needs.

Project: Agua Pura

Providing gravity-operated, amazingly effective water purification systems for individual families that are capable of filtering a full gallon per hour for up to two years before filter change is recommended. The cost for each system is less than $50*! The number of filters installed and size of buckets/containers maybe increased for greater capacity as needed.

Important note: From Hand to Heart is a 100% volunteer organization designed intentionally to utilize leaders and participants, all of whom are unpaid and pay all travel and in-country expenses with their own funds or those gathered from other sources in order to apply your gifts directly to the needs. We pay only Honduran laborers. We respect and appreciate every contributor and commit to using your gifts to greatest effect and benefit in offering a Hand Up (not a handout) for those living in generational poverty.
